The Friends of Pannett Park
The Friends of Pannett Park were formed in July 2005 by founder members Alf Abbott and Joe Plant. We have over 100 members and work in partnership with Whitby Town Council and Scarborough Borough Council The aim of the Friends is to restore the heritage features and to protect and improve the park for the benefit of all. As well as fundraising for park improvements and consulting the community, the Friends undertake work in the park under direction from the Parks and Countryside Services staff and from August 2005 - August 2011 have accumulated over 10,500 volunteer hours, an unprecedented level of commitment.

The Friends believe that partnership working is seen as the way forward in developing community facilities. Community engagement is also an important element and will improve community cohesion and provide opportunities for learning new skills. Events, activities and promotional work are undertaken throughout the year.
