How to find us
Pannett Park is situated a short, uphill walk from the bus and train stations in Whitby town centre, see map at bottom of home page. Car parking is available on street and in the Leisure Centre car park, another short walk from the Jubilee Gate entrance. There is disabled parking at the accessible entrance to the museum. Facilities
Tea Room on lower floor of museum for light lunches, snacks and home baking. Takeaway teas and ice creams available. There are lift and toilets, including accessible toilet. Ask at the museum desk for directions
Whitby Museum
The museum houses artifacts from around the world, many of which have links to the South Seas and Jurassic Gardens. Entry to the museum is free to Whitby residents
Pannett Art Gallery has permanent collections featuring the Staithes Group of artists and their associates, and the work of George Weatherill and his children. There are temporary displays by local and national artists which change regularly. The art gallery is free to the public.
Guided walks tailored to suit all abilities are available but attendants cannot be provided. Help in planning school visits can be arranged. Maths trail and tree trail leaflets available. The Park measures 3.3 hectares and has steep gradients in places. The paths were resurfaced in 2009. A path crosses the park from Chubb Hill at the lower end up to St. Hilda's Terrace which has a gradient of 1:12 and is illuminated from dusk to dawn. A route avoiding steep gradients and steps circles the museum and takes in the main drive, Community Garden, play area, outdoor classroom, neolithic rock art and Commemorative Garden. It traverses the top of the embankment via the bedding display and sun dial, and affords splendid views of the park below and the town. See map in 'Resources'.
The state of the art play area has equipment for use by all ages, much of which can be used by people with special needs.
The outdoor classroom has seating and space for large groups to gather.
The South Seas Garden has level access to the top terrace from St. Hilda's Terrace.
The Lily Pool is accessible to wheelchair users from the lower path. 
There is ample seating throughout the park.
You will find information boards at the entrances and interpretation boards in key areas.
As this is a small, ornamental park please help to keep it a pleasant place for all by respecting the rules banning the use of bikes, skateboards and scooters. No dogs apart from assistance dogs.
