The Friends of Pannett Park

The Friends of Pannett Park were formed in July 2005 by founder members Alf Abbott and Joe Plant. We have over 100 members and work in partnership with Whitby Town Council and Scarborough Borough Council. The aims of the Friends are to restore the heritage features and to protect and improve the park for the benefit of all. As well as fundraising for park improvements and consulting the community, the Friends undertake work in the park under direction from the Environmental Services staff, and contribute around 1300 volunteer gardening hours per year.

The Friends believe that partnership working is seen as the way forward in developing community facilities. Community engagement is also an important element and will improve community cohesion and provide opportunities for learning new skills. Events, activities and promotional work are undertaken throughout the year.
