Memorials and Donations

We like to keep a record of all the memorials placed in the park and the donations received to help with the upkeep and development of Pannett Park. Many thanks to all our supporters.The list below contains information regarding all recently created memorials and donations received:

17/12/12. Whitby Town Mayor Councillor John Freeman plants a Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Gold Rush' (Dawn redwood)  to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Magnolia soulangeana. 13/12/12. Donated by Friends of Pannett Park and planted by volunteer gardener
                                         Kath Horsley who received a commemorative silver trowel from Friends' Chairman Bob Bennett.

Fir trees
3/12/12. Julia Lewis of Leeds donates and plants two fir trees grown by herself from seed in memory of her beloved dogs.

Betula utilis var. jacquemontii 'Doorenbos' (Himalayan birch 'Snow Queen')
Donated on 12th April 2012.

Prunus serrula
March 2012. Replacing a commemorative tree, Prunus serrula,which originally marked the
first one thousand hours of gardening completed by the Friends.

Water Lilies
May 14th 2011. Planting water lilies donated by the descendants of Captain Thomas Kirby
whose daughters funded the building of the original lily pool in the 1920s.

Parrotia persica (Persian Ironwood)
Tree donated by TGP Landscape Architects to celebrate the new tree planting as part of the park restoration.

Peter Turner
A memorial bench to Peter, a valued Friend of Pannett Park is situated by the lily pool.
