We like to keep a record of all the memorials placed in the park and the donations received to help with the upkeep and development of Pannett Park. Many thanks to all our supporters.The list below contains information regarding all recently created memorials and donations received:

                                   (Acer griseum) in memory of their son & stepson Adam who passed 
                                   away in 2018  aged 39.
      January 2019.  Nest boxes made and donated by Walter Turner.
      December 2018.  Christmas tree donated by the Marquis of Normanby.
      November 2018.  Louis the Peacock donated by Kath Horsley in memory of
                                         George Horsley to celebrate 54 years together.
      November 2018.  A donation by the Friends of a Cornus controversa variegata
                                      to mark a special birthday of Linda Sims, a Friend of the park.
      November 2018.  A Fagus sylvatica purpurea (copper beech), planted by
                                        Councillor Joe Plant, Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough,
                                        to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day,
                                        World War One.
      May 2018.  A donation of gardening equipment from the Community Fund of the
                            Mayoress of the Borough of Scarborough, Mrs. Cherry Smith.
      May 2018.  Salix caprea (Goat Willow) donated by a former Green Flag judge,
                            now a good friend.
      December 2017.  Euonymus alatus donated by Whitby U3A gardening group.
      December 2017.  Cercidiphyllum japonicum (Katsura tree/Burnt Sugar tree)
                                        donated by the Friends in recognition of the contribution
                                        made by two of the volunteers.
      September 2017.  Narcissus poeticus 'Actaea', a heritage, scented variety.

Pinus mugo

                                 2000 galanthus nivalis (snowdrops) have been planted in the neolithic circle
                                 with the help of pupils from Airy Hill C. P. School.
      December 2014. A walnut tree (Juglans) donated by Ron Whatling.

      December 2014. Three trees have been donated this month,
                                       Koelreuteria paniculata (Pride of India)  donated by the Jameson family,
                                       Cercis canadensis (Redbud) & pyrus 'Conference' (pear).
      March 2014. Staff of Sainsbury's, Whitby donate and plant a prunus 'Kanzan'.
      Febuary 2014. Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' and bergenia 'Baby Doll', donated by Friends of Pannett Park.
      August 2013. A donation from Sainsbury's, Whitby to purchas 24 clematis.

A donation from Dillons of Whitby has allowed the boosting of planting in this area.

Jubilee tree
17/12/12. Whitby Town Mayor Councillor John Freeman plants a Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Gold Rush' (Dawn redwood)  to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Magnolia soulangeana. 13/12/12. Donated by Friends of Pannett Park and planted by volunteer gardener
                                         Kath Horsley who received a commemorative silver trowel from Friends' Chairman Bob Bennett.

Fir trees
3/12/12. Julia Lewis of Leeds donates and plants two fir trees grown by herself from seed in memory of her beloved dogs.

May 2012. Plants from Poets Cottage Shrub Nursery, Lealholm.

Timber for raised bed

Betula utilis var. jacquemontii 'Doorenbos' (Himalayan birch 'Snow Queen')
Donated on 12th April 2012.

Prunus serrula
March 2012. Replacing a commemorative tree, Prunus serrula,which originally marked the
first one thousand hours of gardening completed by the Friends.

Water Lilies
May 14th 2011. Planting water lilies donated by the descendants of Captain Thomas Kirby
whose daughters funded the building of the original lily pool in the 1920s.

Parrotia persica (Persian Ironwood)
Tree donated by TGP Landscape Architects to celebrate the new tree planting as part of the park restoration.

Peter Turner
A memorial bench to Peter, a valued Friend of Pannett Park is situated by the lily pool.
Prunus serrula (cherry)
To commemorate one thousand hours of gardening by the volunteers, and planted by
Whitby mayor Robert Broadley in May 2006.
